Did you know scrabble was invented in 1931 by an unemployed architect named Alfred Butts? It was just the creator and his buddies who played it until 1948, when it was mass-produced and sold. Scrabble is the best-selling word game in the world, and once individuals start playing it, they are usually hooked for life. Each player takes turns forming words crossword-style across the playing board using seven letter tiles picked at random. Letter values are given points, which are raised by premium squares on the grid. At the end, the player with the highest score wins.
